What Does the NJ Home Inspection cover?

Your NJ Home Inspection is conducted by a NJ Licensed home inspector who follows and often exceeds the State of New Jersey’s Standards of Practice.

  • ROOF: Includes roof surface, structure, drainage systems, flashing, skylights, and the exterior of the chimney. 
  • EXTERIOR: Includes exterior surfaces, doors, windows, decks, balconies, stoops, steps, porches, railings, vegetation, grading, drainage, retaining walls, walkways, patios, driveways and garage doors.
  • HVAC: Includes the heating and cooling equipment, ductwork, distribution type, energy sources and fuel storage tanks. 
  • PLUMBING: Includes the interior water supply and distribution systems, interior fixtures and faucets, drains, waste and vent systems, domestic water heating systems, combustion vent systems, fuel distribution systems, drainage sumps, sump pumps, and related piping.
  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS: Includes the service entrance system, main disconnects, main panel and sub-panels, service grounding, wiring, over-current protection devices, interior and exterior lighting fixtures, switches, receptacles and ground fault circuit interrupters. We will note the presence of knob-and-tube or solid conductor aluminum branch circuit wiring.
  • APPLIANCES: Includes the kitchen range and oven, dishwasher, garbage disposal, clothing washer and dryer. 
  • INTERIOR: Includes the walls, ceilings, floors, doors, windows, steps, stairways, railings, and  kitchen cabinets.
  • FOUNDATION, BASEMENT & CRAWL SPACE: Includes the structure of the foundation, basement, crawlspace, floors, and ceilings, and probe structural components where deterioration is suspected. 
  • ATTIC, VENTILATION & INSULATION: Includes insulation in unfinished spaces, ventilation of the kitchen, bathroom, attic and crawl space. 
  • FIREPLACE: Includes the fireplace, solid fuel burning appliances, chimney, and combustion vents.
